Scalini's Eggplant Parmesan: Fact or Fiction?

There are many urban legends about what can induce labor. From Primrose Oil, to a bumpy car ride, to eating spicy food, it seems like everyone has an idea of how to speed up the process. However, none is more talked about or has received more publicity than eating the Eggplant Parmesan from Scalini's Italian Restaurant in Atlanta. Previously featured on Good Morning America and countless print articles, Scalini's has a wall of pictures of babies that have been born from mothers who had recently eaten their popular dish (they actually give gift certificates and onesie's to mom's who deliver within 48 hours of eating it!!). Many claim this to be a marketing stunt, but when the doctor told Kelly she'd have to wait until Tuesday to be induced, we decided to try anything...

Induction Date Scheduled!

Well, we gave our plea with legitimate tears for an induction tomorrow but after testing me and the babies "we are too healthy" to induce before our 37 week mark on Tuesday, December 15. With that said, we will check in the hospital on Monday and start induction first thing Tuesday morning. We are thankful for such a healthy report and still hopeful something happens naturally between now and then!

36 Weeks and Ready!

Today we hit the infamous 36 week mark. If only we knew months ago we would make it this far! We spent the night making final touches to the nursery and we are so ready to meet our sons!!!

Christmas Wish

Big Boys

The boys weighed in at 6 lb 2oz and 6lb 6 oz today. That is 12.5 pounds of baby and they are expected to grow a half of a pound a week. Are you doing the math with me? They may both be at or over 7 pounds on December 18th if I make it until that induction date! WOW. That is the average size of a singleton baby.

Baby A was precious. He kept opening his mouth, sticking out his little tongue and hitting the wall of the sack with his fingers. Baby B was quietly sleeping face down (as usual) and didn't seem to be bothered by his brother.

Lord, you are amazing. Despite the pain I am in I will continue to praise your name for this blessing!!!

35 Weeks

Here we are - week 35! Praising our Heavenly Father for getting us here. The boys received another wonderful and healthy report at the doctors office today.

Last week our OB said there was no need to schedule an induction because I would never see 37 weeks gestation with these guys. Today she changed her mind. I must admit this causes conflicted emotions for me. The discomfort is causing my emotional strength not to hold up as well as the overall strength of my body. Keeping my focus on the joyous ending! We cannot wait to have these guys in our arms!

With our doctor leaving the country next Tuesday, we have requested our next favorite doctor in the practice to deliver us if we make it to induction. The first day past 37 weeks that he delivers is Friday, December 18. Looks like our sons will be arriving 7 days before Christmas if not sooner. I may start running the stairs, doing lunges and eating spicy foods between now and then!
